Catch Reston's Tao on American Idol Wednesday

Herndon High grad Nate Tao is going to Hollywood! Patch will be following his progress.

Reston native Nate Tao and his inspiring backstory - both his parents are deaf - were featured on last week's American Idol.

After auditioning in Oklahoma City, Tao got an unanimous "You're Going to Hollywood!" from Idol judges Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Nikki Minaj and Mariah Carey.

See the YouTube video of Tao's audition attached to this article.

Tao, 24, currently lives in Los Angeles, where he is a sign language teacher - he taught Idol host Ryan Secrest the sign for "congratulations" on last week's episode. He is also, of course, an aspiring singer.

Catch the Fox broadcast of Hollywood Week Wednesday and Thursday at 8 p.m. Don't worry if you miss it - Reston Patch will be following Tao's progress as well.

Tao, attended Herndon High School and  is a 2010 graduate of Ithaca College.
