Governor Appoints Kate Hanley to Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Board
Hanley is a former chair of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe on Friday announced he has appointed a Reston resident to the board of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.
The governor appointed the Honorable Katherine K. “Kate” Hanley of Reston, retired, former chair of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and former secretary of the Commonwealth.

- The Honorable C. Charles “Chuck” Caputo of Herndon, retired, former member of Virginia House of Delegates
- Bruce A. Gates of Alexandria, senior vice president, External Affairs, Altria Client Services, Inc.
The appointees will join McAuliffe’s administration, according to a news release, focused on finding common ground with members of both parties, on issues that will build a new Virginia economy and create more jobs across the Commonwealth.
The MWAA is an independent airport authority, created by the Commonwealth of Virginia, the State of Maryland, and the District of Columbia with the consent of Congress to oversee management, operations, and capital development of DC’s two major airports.

The Authority is governed by the 13-member board with five members appointed by the governor of Virginia, three by the the mayor of DC, two by the governor of Maryland and three by the president.
