Morning Fire at South Lakes Village Center

Two-alarm incident began in roof above Hour Eyes.

Update, 1:20 p.m. - Cafesano says it will be closed until tomorrow. Power was still out as of 1 p.m.

Update, 11:40 a.m.: The power is out from Cafesano to Pet Valu, so all the stores in that part of the center will be closed until at least later Monday.

Affected stores: Cafesano, Hour Eyes, Reston Floral Design, Verizon, Lakeside Asia, Crest Cleaners, Hair and Nails Care, Hair Cuttery, Flippin' Pizza and Pet Valu.

Safeway is open.

Original Story: There were no injuries in a two-alarm fire at South Lakes Village Shopping Center on Monday morning.

The fire was located in the roof above Hour Eyes, said Deputy Fire Chief James Walsh.

"The two-alarm fire was under control in about 10 to 15 minutes," Walsh said.

Gino Maza, general manager at Cafesano, says he and two other employees were in the restaurant at about 8 a.m. when an employee fromknocked on the door and alerted them to the smoke on the roof.

Within a few minutes, more than 15 trucks and 60 firefighters were at the scene.

Walsh says an investigation will determine the origin of the fire and and the amount of damage.
