'Back 2 School Bash' to Help Prepare Parents for New Year

The free event will take place on Saturday and will give parents a chance to have all questions answered before the new school year arrives.

A new school year is right around the corner, and South Lakes High School, Cornerstones, the Reston Community Center, YMCA and Fairfax County Neighborhood & Community Services want to ensure Restonians are prepared.

With that in mind, they’re hosting a “Back 2 School Bash” at South Lakes High School on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The event will feature interactive activities for kids as well as vital information for parents for the coming school year. The county will have representatives on hand to provide details and answer any questions parents may have about the school year or about the other resources, programs and services Fairfax County has to offer.

Parents can log on and navigate through the county’s new Student Information System (SIS), or register their kids for a before- and/or after-school SACC program. They can learn about more than a dozen recreational programs, clubs and social programs slated to take place this year, as well as information about the county’s health services and more.

The “Back 2 School Bash” is a free event and is open to the public. There will be a D.J. playing music throughout the day, and there will be various games and contests taking place as well.
