Reston Community Center Unveils Huge Summer Concert Series

The "Take a Break" concert series runs every Thursday through the summer.

Ready for some live music outdoors this summer in Reston? There's big news for you at the Reston Community Center.

The RCC is starting a free summer concert series at Lake Anne Plaza beginning on Thursday, June 16, according to a statement. The "Take a Break" concerts will run from June 16 through Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Tonight's opener will feature Dance Night with Radio King Orchestra, a big band swing type of group. It will also feature dance demonstrations and instructions.

The blues group Texas Chainsaw Horns and acoustic swing bang Swing Sisters will perform on June 23 and June 30, respectively.

Cheick Hamala Diabete will open up July with a performance of traditional west African music of Mali mixed with modern grooves.

The rest of the summer will feature plenty more acts that are just as varied, ranging from rockabilly to Motown to Celtic music, closing it all out with a bebop jazz performance from the Chris Vadala Quartet on Sept. 1.
