Treadmill Causes Massive Fire in Reston Neighborhood
Two people fled a house Wednesday morning after a treadmill started a fire in the sunroom of a house on Marginella Drive.

RESTON, VA — A treadmill was the cause of a blaze that caused massive damage to a house in Reston on Wednesday morning, authorities say.
Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a house fire in the 2200 block of Marginella Drive at around 8:38 a.m. on April 19, and found fire showing in the rear of a two-story single-family home, according to a report from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
"Firefighters went to work extinguishing a large volume of fire in the back of the home," the report states. "They were able to bring the fire under control approximately ten minutes after arrival."

Upon further investigation, officials believe the fire started in the sunroom at the rear of the house due to a treadmill. Two occupants in the house at the time of the fire were able to escape and call 911.
Authorities estimate the damage to be about $237,466.
