For many college-bound students and their families, April is a month of decisions as to what college to attend. As part of getting ready for college, students and parents are encouraged to attend together a “Perils of the College Drinking Culture” regional forum put on by the Unified Prevention Coalition of Fairfax County.
The first event kicks off Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at Madison High School, hosted by the JMHS PTSA.

Don’t Send a Child to College Without Attending This Community Forum
Much has been in the news this past year in Virginia and across the country about the dangers and consequences of alcohol and binge drinking on college campuses - alcohol poisoning, sexual assault, injury, and even death.
Join us for an award-winning film HAZE to educate parents and students about the dangers of alcohol and binge drinking. The film contains graphic imagery but is a must-see for all parents and their college-bound teens. Make plans to attend one of the two upcoming forums being held in Fairfax County in 2015. For more information about the film, visit www.gordie.org.
A distinguished panel will be on hand to answer questions. Among those who will take part: Casey Lingan, Chief Deputy, Commonwealth’s Attorney for Fairfax County; William Hauda, M.D., Inova Fairfax Hospital; Sgt. Dan Pang, Fairfax County Police Department; Mary Ann Sprouse, Director, George Mason University’s Wellness, Alcohol, and Violence Education and Services; Jeff Levy, Virginia College Parents president and father of a student who died following drinking at a college party; and Tylia Turner, a GMU student.
