VIENNA, VA -- After two full days of winter storm response, the Town of Vienna’s Public Works Department reports that about 75 percent of secondary streets have been plowed and at least one lane of travel cleared. Town crews continue to work in shifts around the clock, and the Town anticipates that all roads will be plowed by the end of the day Tuesday, barring any unforeseen issues.

A list of streets that have not yet been plowed as of 6 p.m. Monday is available at the end of this information update. If your street is not on the list and has not been plowed at all, please call 703-255-6380.

Town offices will open at 10 am Tuesday. Liberal leave for employees will be in effect from 10 am-4:30 pm.

Once all secondary roads have been plowed, the Town will shift its cleanup efforts throughout the rest of the week to:

• widen travel lanes on Maple Avenue and other primary roads

• widen travel lanes on secondary roads

• clear intersections

• shovel sidewalks along Maple Avenue and Nutley Road.

Residents can assist Town snow clean-up efforts by:

• staying off the roads and keeping vehicles of the roads as much as possible

• shoveling sidewalks in front of your residence or business (the Town simply does not have the

manpower to clear all sidewalks throughout Town)

• shoveling your neighbor’s sidewalk

• not shoveling snow from sidewalks into the street – shovel snow to the right of driveways (as you’re

facing the street) to avoid snow plows from pushing snow back into cleared areas

• clearing snow from hydrants.

Closures/cancellations
