Vienna Crime: Assault at a Family Reunion, Man's Home and Car Egged + More
The week in crime in the Town of Vienna, from the Town of Vienna Police Department weekly crime report.

The following summary contains various incidents of general interest as well as vehicular crashes handled by the Town of Vienna, Virginia Police Department from August 07, 2015 – August 13, 2015. Readers are reminded that an “arrest” is based upon probable cause and does not always mean that someone was physically taken into custody. Furthermore, it does not mean that an individual is automatically guilty of a crime. Judicial outcomes and post-arrest proceedings can be researched through the appropriate court’s website.

INCIDENTS:
Grand Larceny 15-007690 600 Block Alma Street, SE Between August 03 at 6:00 a.m. and August 09 2:00 p.m. A resident reported a composter had been taken from his backyard.

This case is being investigated.
Burglary 15-007805 700 Block Kingsley Road, SW Between August 05 at 4:00 p.m. and August 13 at 1:34 p.m. The owner of a residence, due to be renovated, returned to find someone had gutted the basement of all copper pipes and wiring.
This case is being investigated.
Suspicious Person 15-007584 The Wolf Trap Hotel 430 Maple Avenue, West August 07 7:49 a.m. An employee reported a potential guest became upset with the new room rates and was refusing to leave the hotel.
MPO Shaver responded and spoke with the upset individual and informed him the hotel management wanted him to leave and not return to the hotel.
Arrest – Drunk in Public 15-007608 Nutley Street at Marshall Road, SW August 07 10:42 p.m. Officer Reedy responded to the area to assist Fairfax County Police and the Virginia State Police in the search for a possible robbery suspect, who had crashed his vehicle on Route 66 at Nutley Street and then fled the scene.
While searching the area a Fairfax County Police Officer encountered an individual who appeared to be intoxicated. After determining the individual was not involved in the Virginia State Police incident, Officer Reedy arrested the 39 year old man from Layton Hall Road in Fairfax, Virginia for Drunk in Public.
The man was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober.
Vandalism 15-007615 900 Block Fairway Drive, NE Between August 07 at 11:00 p.m. and August 08 at 7:00 a.m. A resident reported someone had egged his house and car and had also toilet papered the bushes and trees in his front yard. The resident cleaned the eggs and removed the toilet paper prior to the arrival of the police officer.
He indicated he had no idea who would have done this to his home.
Arrest – Alcohol Violation 15-007614 100 Block Patrick Street, SW August 08 7:22 a.m. PFC Tracy responded to the area after a resident reported individuals had been in their backyard and were possibly intoxicated.
PFC Tracy located the three individuals and determined they had been drinking beer in the area. He issued summonses to a 33 year old man from Willow Crescent Drive in Fairfax, Virginia, a 26 year old man from Cedar Lane, SE in Vienna and a 27 year old man from Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax, Virginia for Drinking in Public.
After signing their summonses all three individuals were released.
Found Property 15-007628 Vienna Elementary School 128 Center Street, South August 08 between 9:00 a.m. and 7:34 p.m. A concerned citizen turned in a bicycle helmet and iPhone that were found lying on the playground.
The items will be held at the Vienna Police Station in the event the owners are identified.
Assault 15-007627 The Vienna Elks Lodge 250 Nutley Street, NW August 08 3:04 p.m. An attendee of a family reunion, being held at the Elks Lodge, responded to the Vienna Police Station to report her cousin had spit at her and slapped her in the face. She stated the assault was unprovoked and had no idea why her cousin would do that to her. She stated she wished to pursue charges and was informed of the warrant process.
MPO Seitz and PFC Tracy then responded to the Elks Lodge to speak with the cousin in this incident. The cousin stated the incident stemmed from disparaging Facebook and text messages exchanged between the two cousins.
Case Update:
On August 09, 2015, a Fairfax County Police Officer arrested the 35 year old woman from Coleman Court in Centreville, Virginia for Assault.
Illegal Dumping 15-007646 300 Block Maple Avenue, East Between August 08 at 8:00 p.m. and August 09 9:02 a.m. A business owner reported someone had been filling the dumpsters in the rear of his business with advertisement lawn signs. The owner stated this has been occurring at least once a month.
The signs advertised puppies for sale and provided the address and telephone number. Officer Hylinski telephoned the number on the sign and spoke with an employee of “Dreamy Puppy” who informed him the business has had an on-going problem with people taking their signs.
The employee informed Officer Hylinski she would go to the business and remove the signs from the dumpster.
Arrest – Drunk in Public 15-007632 Wolf Trap Hotel 430 Maple Avenue, West August 08 8:04 p.m. A guest of the hotel reported another guest had been leaning over the third floor railing and appeared to be intoxicated. The guest was concerned the intoxicated individual may accidently fall from the third floor.
Officer Lyons responded and spoke with the individual, who had returned to his room and appeared to not be in harm. Shortly after leaving Officer Lyons was summoned back to the hotel as the individual was again leaning over the railing.
Officer Lyons arrested the 27 year old man from New Parkland Drive in Herndon, Virginia for Drunk in Public. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober.
Domestic Dispute 15-007637 Ayr Hill Avenue, NE August 08 11:49 p.m. A resident reported he and his son had been involved in a heated argument after the son was told to turn off the internet but refused.
The son was counselled on the importance of following his parent’s rules. He agreed to return to his room for the remainder of the evening.
Assault 15-007642 400 Block John Marshall Drive, NE August 09 1:30 a.m. A resident reported his son had been at a party in the area and was attacked and assaulted by several individuals. PFC Kiley spoke with the son who stated without provocation three of the attendees began to punch and kick him. He also stated that all three individuals, to include him, had been drinking alcohol illegally. PFC Kiley informed him to seek medical attention to treat the injuries sustained in the assault.
PFC Kiley responded to the residence where the party had been held and spoke with the individuals involved in the alleged assault. All three individuals gave similar statements advising the individual, who claimed to be assaulted, had shown up uninvited and began to break things and attempted to provoke a fight. The individuals attempted to remove him from the residence, causing him to become more aggressive.
They stated his sister eventually responded and took the disorderly individual home. Everyone was informed of the warrant process in the event they wished to pursue charges.
Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated 15-007681 300 Block Beulah Road, NE August 10 2:10 a.m. Officer Post was on patrol when she observed the driver of a vehicle commit a series of traffic offenses. As a result of those offenses she conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver she detected the signs of possible impairment.
After failing to complete a series of field sobriety tests she arrested the 25 year old man from Florence Terrace in Ashburn, Virginia for Driving While Intoxicated. He was transported to the Vienna Police Station where he was given the opportunity to provide a sample of his breath for analysis.
After the analysis he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and was to be held until he was sober.
Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated 15-007682 100 Block Beulah Road, NE August 10 3:09 a.m. Officer Reedy was on patrol when he observed the driver of a vehicle commit a series of traffic offenses. After the analysis he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and was to be held until he was sober.
Animal Case 15-007683 1900 Block Creek Crossing Road, NE August 10 8:13 a.m. MPO Vazquez responded to the area of Foxstone Park for the report of an injured fawn. After locating the fawn he determined it could not be saved.
Found Property 15-007759 500 Block Orrin Street, SE August 10 12:00 p.m. A resident reported a juvenile had dumped a bicycle in the bushes by his home approximately two days before he contacted the police department. He stated he assumed the juvenile would return to pick up the bicycle, however, he never returned.
Officer Hylinski located two telephone numbers on the Trek brand bicycle, belonging to a bike shop where the bicycle had been sold. He contacted an individual at one of the numbers who stated the bike shop had gone out of business several years ago and was now a restaurant. The individual was able to provide information which reported the bicycle had been stolen 10 – 15 years ago.
The bicycle will be stored at the Vienna Police Station in the event the owner is identified.
Illegal Dumping 15-007721 300 Block Patrick Street, SW Between August 10 at 4:00 p.m. and August 11 at 7:00 a.m. The project manager for a residence stated someone had filled a dumpster with yard debris. He stated when he left the property on August 10 the dumpster was empty.
Domestic Dispute 15-007705 Plum Street, SW August 11 12:30 a.m. A resident reported she and her boyfriend had been involved in a heated argument. She stated her boyfriend left the residence with their infant son. She informed Officer Tremont she was concerned her boyfriend could not properly care for their son.
Officer Tremont spoke with the boyfriend who stated he did not feel the child was safe with his mother and took him to stay at his residence. A police officer responded to the home of the boyfriend and confirmed the child was safe.
Assist EMS 15-007719 Vienna Town Hall 127 Center Street, South August 11 1:11 p.m. MPO Nelson responded to Vienna Town Hall after an employee reported a citizen had fallen and suffered a laceration to her arm.
MPO Nelson assisted the citizen with her injury until Fairfax County Rescue personnel arrived and treated the injury.
Vandalism 15-007774 100 Block Patrick Street, SE Between August 11 at 6:00 p.m. and August 12 at 5:25 a.m. A resident reported the mirror to his rental vehicle had been broken.
Civil Dispute 15-007725 500 Block Orchard Street, NW August 11 6:21 p.m. A resident reported he and his landlord had been involved in a heated argument after the landlord disconnected the water supply to his residence. Officer Herrera responded and spoke with the landlord who stated the water was shut off due to an overdue payment.
After resolving the payment issue the landlord restored the water service.
Suspicious Event 15-007769 1200 Block Drake Street, SW August 12 8:37 p.m. A resident reported a black Mustang followed him from I66 East to his residence. The driver of the Mustang called the Vienna Police Department to report he was following the resident’s vehicle because there was someone waving a white T-Shirt in the back seat.
The driver of the Mustang left the area prior to the arrival of the police.
Open Door 15-007802 900 Block Park Street, SE 15-007802 August 13 10:52 a.m. An alarm company reported a residential alarm had been activated. PFC Lyons and Officer Hylinski responded and located an open door leading into the residence.
The two officers searched the residence and found nothing to be out of place. The owner returned and stated he may have left the door unlocked. The owner secured the door prior to leaving.
Assist EMS 15-007811 Center Street at Moore Avenue, SW August 13 6:06 p.m. Officer Post responded to the area after a construction crew, clearing a lot for construction, knocked down a tree. The tree fell onto power lines which fell into the roadway and started to ignite.
Officer Post assisted Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel in setting up a perimeter until Dominion Power arrived and shut the power off to the lines. The tree was then removed from the roadway.
