Bonney Lake's 2012 Shop With a Cop program made the holiday season a little brighter for 20 local kids, who got to pick out gifts for themselves and family at Target.

Early this morning, Bonney Lake's Target parking lot was filled with flashing police lights--it was time to shop!

Twenty students from Mountain View Middle, Emerald Hills Elementary and Bonney Lake Elementary arrived at Target via police escort at 8 a.m. to take part in the annual Shop With a Cop program, which helps local kids in need have a better holiday with brand new gifts from Target.

There was some worry there wouldn't be enough funds this year, after Target cancelled the fundraising event for the program inside the store. However, the community pulled through and filled in the gaps and no child who was invited to participate was turned away.

@BLPoliceDept posted this note about today's event on Twitter:

None of this would be possible without the help of our community and its citizens. Also a big thank you to #target for your cont. support!
