The exodus from Fourth and Main in Edmonds continues. But the intersection's loss is quickly becoming Old Milltown's gain.

The announced this week that it's moving from the corner of Fourth and Main to Old Milltown and the corner of Fifth Avenue South and Dayton Street.

, a staple at 405 Main St., which owner Strom Peterson announced last month would be moving to Old Milltown in July and getting a new name, The Cheesemonger's Table.

Edmonds Vision Center will have the same optometrists, Drs. Art Wong and Kathleen Solum, and well as staff. Its new, bigger space will allow it to display a larger variety of frames. The estimated moving date is the first week of July.

Here's the rundown of recent activity at the vicinity of Fourth and Main:

  • Bill the Butcher's location on the northwest corner of Fourth and Main has been vacant for more than 18 months. It is unclear if it will ever open, although spokesman it still planned to.
  • In December, just north of Fourth and Main. It is owned by Brian Taylor, who also owns Daphnes on Main Street.
  • In January, Edmonds City Councilman store on the northeast corner of Fourth and Main. Last month, his gallery to include that former space.
  • In February, , has now moved into the location from its longtime spot at 408 Main St., which is now vacant.
  • closed on March 9. It had been next to Jack Murphys.
  • Also in March, , which had been next to Town & Country Jewelers, to concentrate on a mobile business. Both Crimson & Clover and the former Town & Country site are now empty in the Beeson Building.
  • Finally, on Main Street next to the empty space that is Bill the Butcher.
