Hands Across the Sand, a worldwide event to support clean energy, is having another of its events on Saturday, and Edmonds is the only city in Puget Sound participating.
Everyone is invited.
"We will be joining hands across the sand at the Edmonds beach to say yes to clean energy and to end our dependence on the dirty fuels that foul our air, water and food," said local activist Carlo Voli, a member of the Edmonds Community Solar Cooperative.
Those who want to participate should gather at 11 a.m. at by the ferry dock. At noon, participants will join hands for 15 minutes to form a line along the shoreline.
From Hands Across the Sand:
We will be joining hands at the Edmonds beach in solidarity with thousands of others around the country and the globe also joining hands on August 4th, 2012. We will be joining hands for clean energy. We will be joining hands to keep near and offshore oil drilling out of our waters. We will be joining hands to keep ships full of toxic coal and tar sands from navigating in the Puget Sound. We will be joining hands to end our dependence on the dirty fuels that foul our air, water and food.
