City Seeks Volunteers to Help Plant Finn Hill Rain Gardens

Editor's Note: The following is a City of Kirkland news release.

----

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Grab your work gloves and a friend for a morning of planting and learning. Volunteers are needed to help plant a cluster of rain gardens in the Finn Hill neighborhood on Saturday, October 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The project is located at NE 138th Street between 88th Avenue NE and 90th Avenue NE. Tools and light refreshments will be provided. Volunteers should dress for the weather and may want to bring work gloves. Rain gardens are a smart, cost-effective and beautiful way to help capture and filter stormwater runoff from rooftops and driveways, using it to grow a variety of flowers and plants and create habitat for birds and butterflies.

For more information or to register a volunteer, contact Betsy Adams, Kirkland Public Works, at 425-587-3858 or badams@kirklandwa.gov.
