Veterans Day: What's Open What's Closed

Many government offices, including cities and schools, will be closed Nov. 12.

Veterans Day: What's Open What's Closed

 

Veteran's Day is Nov. 11, which falls on a Sunday this year. However, most government offices will observe it on Monday, Nov. 12. Here is a list of what’s open and what's closed.

Kirkland City Hall is closed Monday. The city council study session will be on Tuesday.

Lake Washington School District: Closed Monday, classes will resume Nov. 13.

United States Postal Service: Post offices are closed, no mail delivery.

King County government: Closed. King County Elections will continue to count ballots.

King County Library System is closed Sunday for the holiday, but will be open Monday.

King County Metro: Reduced weekday schedule.

King County Transfer Stations (Garbage): Open.

Sound Transit: Regular weekday schedule.

State of Washington: Closed.

Federal government: Closed.

Banks: Many, if not most, will be closed. Check your local branch.

Express delivery companiesFedEx and  UPS will be open.

Waste Management: Regular recycling and garbage service in Kirkland.

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Day commemorates Armistice Day -- the day when World War I hostilities ended between the Allies and Germany. Veterans Day is officially observed on Nov. 11, regardless of which day it falls.
