5 Injured In 2-Alarm Fire At Renton Apartment Complex
A fire injured multiple people early Monday morning as temperatures plunged into the teens.

RENTON, WA — Five people were injured in a fire Monday morning at a Renton apartment complex as firefighters battled flames in multiple units. According to the Renton Regional Fire Authority, crews arrived at Shattuck Avenue South and South 7th Street around 5:30 a.m.
Crews on the ground called for a two-alarm response, receiving help from neighboring agencies in King County, Tukwila, Skyway and the Valley Regional Fire Authority. Firefighters reported heavy fire in several units and difficulty accessing the building's second floor, requiring additional ladder units.

According to Renton firefighters, one patient suffered life-threatening injuries and two others were in stable condition, with a total of five requiring medical attention. The fire displaced multiple households as temperatures dipped below 20 degrees across the region, and crews requested a King County Metro bus to help keep residents warm during the fire response.
