Boysen Arraignment Moved to Seattle County Courthouse

King County prosecutors say Michael Chadd Boysen will be arraigned in Seattle tomorrow, April 4 on two counts of Aggravated Murder in the First Degree for the alleged murder of his grandparents Norma and Robert Taylor in the Renton area last month, according to a news release.

The King County Prosecutor's Office annouced jurisdiction in the case was shifted from the Norm Maleng Criminal Justice Center in Kent to the King County Courthouse in Seattle. Tomorrow’s hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 1201, and the case has been assigned to Judge Douglass North.

If convicted as charged, aggravated murder carries two possible punishments, either the death penalty or life in prison without release. The law requires that the prosecutor review the case over the next 30 days to determine whether or not to file written notice of a special sentencing proceeding to determine whether or not the death penalty should be imposed, or whether sufficient mitigating circumstances exist to merit leniency.

This decision includes a careful examination of all the evidence, say prosecutors. If additional time is needed, prosecutors may ask the court to grant more time to make that decision.
