High Winds, Heavy Rain Forecast for Renton on Friday

Western Washington is in for a wet and windy Friday, with gusts of up to 50 mph possible in some areas.

Heavy rain is also expected throughout the region, and sustained winds of 18 to 23 mph are expected in Renton ( see complete local forecast here.)

If your power goes out Friday, you can report the outage to Puget Sound Energy by calling 888-225-5773 or signing into your online account.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for the Western Washington area, including a Winter Storm Watch for the mountains, where 1 to 2 feet of fresh snow is expected to fall by Saturday morning. Backcountry travel is not recommended during this time, due to avalanche danger.

Things are expected to calm down for the weekend. In Renton, the Saturday forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of precipitation and mostly cloudly skies with a southwest wind around 8 mph, becoming west northwest in the morning.
