Man Dies In Car Fire Along SR 18

The 28-year-old's Toyota Prius burst into flames after hitting a semi head-on Wednesday night.

ISSAQUAH, WA - A 28-year-old man from Pullman died Wednesday night after a crash along SR 18, according to Washington State Patrol.

The victim, who has not been identified yet, was driving westbound just west of I-90 around 10 p.m. Wednesday when he crossed the center line. His Toyota Prius hit a semitrailer driven by a SeaTac man head-on.

The Prius burst into flames, according to police, and the driver was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the semi, Osman Mohamud, 54, was taken to Overlake Hospital in Bellevue for observation.

The crash blocked SR 18 for about 5 hours. Police have not completed an investigation into why the man's car crossed the center line.
