Truck Fire Closes I-82 Between Ellensburg and Yakima
Drivers heading north from I-82 to I-90 should expect major delays as crews work to clean up the wreck.

ELLENSBURG, WA - A semi-truck that caught fire along I-82 between Ellensburg and Yakima may cause traffic delays getting to I-90. Washington State Patrol reported that the northbound lanes were closed due to the wreck.
The truck fire happened 19 miles south of Ellensburg, about halfway to Yakima. Washington State Patrol spokesman Brian Moore said around 1 p.m. Wednesday that there was no estimated time when the highway would reopen.

Pictures from the scene show a mangled semi-truck, its cab almost completely destroyed, parked in the left lane of the highway. The crash happened along a deserted stretch of I-82, a few miles north of Selah Creek.

Washington State Patrol said it would establish a detour in the area to relieve traffic. But real-time traffic estimates show that the northbound lanes are backed up as far south as exit 26.
