Kurt Cobain's Hagstrom Guitar To Be Auctioned For Charity
A Hagstrom Deluxe 90 Cobain owned will go up for auction on eBay Feb. 16 for charity.

SEATTLE, WA - If you've ever wanted to own a piece of Seattle grunge history, now's your chance.
A circa 1960 Hagstrom Deluxe 90 in blue sparkle finish that was once owned by Kurt Cobain will go up for auction on eBay on Thursday. The auction will benefit the nonprofit Transition Projects, which assists homeless and vulnerable people in the Portland area get access to housing or employment.
According to eBay, Cobain acquired the Hagstrom in 1992 from Nirvana guitar tech Earnie Bailey. After Cobain's suicide in 1994, Courtney Love gave the Hagstrom away, and it ended up in Portland with a guitar collector. The guitar is currently owned by Nathan Fasold, owner of Portland's Black Book Guitars.

Even without a famous owner, a vintage Deluxe 90 can fetch anywhere between $2,000 and $2,500. Ebay has not set an opening bid for the guitar yet, but famous guitars can end up costing between five and six figures. Last year, Indianapolis Colts owner James Irsay bought Prince's famous Yellow Cloud electric guitar for $137,500.
Cobain played a number of guitars throughout his music career, and was best known for playing a modified Fender Jaguar. He also designed his own signature guitar for Fender called a Jag-Stang. Cobain's 50th birthday is Feb. 20.
