Man Killed By Light Rail Train In Seattle Identified

The 39-year-old died Monday morning at the Othello station in South Seattle.

SEATTLE, WA - The King County Medical Examiner's office has released the identity of a 39-year-old man who was struck and killed by a train at the Othello light rail station on Monday morning.

Michael S. Beaty died of blunt force injury, and his cause of death was ruled accidental, the medical examiner's office says. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Beaty died after being hit by a train while crossing tracks at the south end of the Othello station platform. He was hit by a light rail train traveling northbound. The accident happened at approximately 6:38 a.m., and police say Beaty may have been crossing against a traffic signal.

In 2011, a woman was killed while walking along light rail tracks near the Rainier Beach station.
