UW Police Release Suspect In Shooting At Yiannopoulos Protest
Police say an investigation revealed the shooting was self-defense.

SEATTLE ,WA - University of Washington police have released a man who allegedly shot a 34-year-old man at a chaotic protest that occurred on campus Friday night.
University police released a brief statement on Saturday describing their decision:
"Following investigation of the details surrounding the incident, and in consultation with the prosecuting attorney’s office, the suspects were released pending further investigation. No suspects remain outstanding," police said.

The suspect turned himself in on Friday night a few hours after the shooting occurred.
The shooting happened Friday at a protest of a talk by Breitbart.com pundit Milo Yiannopoulos. The shooting happened around 8 p.m. outside of Kane Hall, where Yiannopoulos was speaking. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Police are reporting that his condition has improved since the shooting.

The Friday night incident unfolded as self-described anti-fascist protesters clashed with people who were lined up to see Yiannopoulos speak. The two sides argued verbally and physically as Seattle and university police watched. The two sides hurled objects at each other; one man was seen confronting protesters while holding a Taser.
Aside from the shooting, no other major injuries occurred. University police told Patch.com that no other arrests were made.
