Greenfield Avenue Store Robbed in Second Brookfield Holdup in Week

In the second armed robbery in Brookfield in a week, was held up Sunday evening by two men wearing all black clothing and black bandanas and displaying a weapon, police say.

The two fled with an undisclosed amount of cash about 9 p.m. Sunday from the liquor store, 13430 W. Greenfield Ave., according to police reports.

The description of the suspects matched an Oct. 10 at the southeast corner of Capitol Drive and Brookfield Road. But Police Capt. Jim Adlam said Monday it was too early to know if the armed robberies were connected, and Brookfield police are working with other communities on an investigation of similar robberies.

According to reports:

An employee at Westbrook Beverage told police two black males wearing black bandanas came in the front door and he didn't recognize them as past customers. The men were about 5 feet 8 inches tall.

One suspect displayed a small black semi-automatic handgun, and the employee was told to open the cash register, which was cleaned out before the two fled on foot through a side door.

No one was injured. No arrests were made.

Police were checking to see if video surveillance cameras caught the crime; video was not available in the Subway holdup.
