Intoxicated Man Tries to Steal 'Naked' Juice from Open Pantry

A 22-year-old Fox Point man was arrested for OWI outside the  after a store clerk called in about an impaired driver returning for a second time.

The man and his 18-year-old male passenger offered no explanation for the pile of stuff outside his car — including condoms and energy drinks.

According to the report:

An Open Pantry clerk called  at 3:29 a.m. on May 1 to report a possibly impaired driver in the parking lot. She said this was the same vehicle she had seen earlier in the evening. She said he seemed intoxicated and attempted to hide a "Naked" juice in his jacket pocket.

When she asked if he was going to pay for the juice, he put it back on the shelf and left the store. Officers pulled the car over in the 8700 bock of North Port Washington Road.

The driver said he was at the gas station buying Gatorade but denied being intoxicated. However, as the officer spoke with the man, he could smell alcohol on his breath. The driver then admitted to having "a couple" of drinks earlier in the evening, but wouldn’t be specific with a number.

Outside the car, in the parking lot, police discovered two boxes of condoms, an empty 5-hour energy drink bottle and a single condom that had been removed from the packaging, seemingly burned.

The driver blew 0.106 in his prelimary breath test, and was cited for OWI by Fox Point police. The report also notes that he vomited in the booking room and again in the bathroom after he was arrested.

The 18-year-old passenger was taken into custody by for theft and when officers asked what they were doing in the car, he only replied, "Driving around."

Both the driver and passenger later admitted to stealing the items from Open Pantry, so both were cited for theft by Bayside police as well.
