A 38-year-old Greendale man is facing felony drunk driving charges after he was spotted running red lights in Greenfield last week.
Jeffrey J. Tatera was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Saturday with one count of fifth offense operating while intoxicated. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
On Thursday, a Greenfield police officer was on patrol when he spotted Tatera drive through a red light at the intersection of West Forest Home Avenue and West Morgan Avenue. The officer then saw Tatera run through another red light at Forest Home and South 60th Street, where Tatera turned onto that road and continued to drive erratically.
The officer pulled Tatera over and immediately smelled alcohol in the car. Tatera said he had “enough” to drink and refused to take field sobriety tests because “he knew where it was going.”
He was then arrested and taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for a blood alcohol test.
Tatera was previously convicted of OWI twice in 2001 and once in 2004 and 2008. He’s currently being held in Milwaukee County Jail on $500 bond.
