Highly Seeded Indians Hope For Deep Postseason Run

The Menomonee Falls varsity soccer team has had a historic – and successful - season so far, and the team is poised for a deep run in the playoffs in 2012.

The Indians (15-4-2, 5-1-1 Greater Metro) strong season earned them the number two seed in the WIAA Tournament, which starts at Tuesday. The Indians will host Milwaukee Riverside (2-8, 2-3 Milwaukee City) at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Menomonee Falls High School.

The Indians will play either Hamilton or Nicolet Thursday if they win.

The Indians enter the postseason as one of the hottest teams in the state. They outscored their opponents 22-2 in five games from Sept. 22 to Oct. 2. The Indians knocked nine into the net against West Allis Central on Sept. 25.

However, the team has played historically well the entire season. Early in the season, the Indians swept the conference teams from Brookfield two years in a row for the first in team history. The Indians also scored a late goal against Wauwatosa East to go 3-0 in conference play for the first time in team history.

Will the Indians earn a birth in the state tournament? Only time well tell. Stay tuned to Patch as we document the team’s run for a state title.
