Lori Blodorn to Resign from School Board

Blodorn will accept a job in the human resources department with the school district she's represented since 2010.

Lori Blodorn to Resign from School Board

Menomonee Falls School Board member Lori Blodorn has announced she will not run for reelection in spring. Instead, she’s accepted a position as the human resources manager with the Falls school district.

Blodorn will resign from the School Board within the next few weeks and begin her new job with the district in January. More than 75 candidates were reviewed for the open human resources position and about a dozen were interviewed, according to a news release from the district. Blodorn will replace Ken Kuberka who is leaving for a job with his prior employer.

“We are confident in Lori’s ability to assist in the positive progression that the district has and continues to undertake in the human resources arena,” said Christiane Standlee, director of human resources.

The School Board will decide in January how to handle Blodorn’s vacancy on the board. The board could appoint someone who would be up for election in April, or continue to operate with just six board memebers.

Three seats on the School Board are up for election in spring. Scott Ternes has filed his paperwork for reelection. Faith VanderHorst has verbally committed to running again, but she has yet to file her necessary paperwork.

Blodorn has served on the School Board since 2010, and she was selected as vice president in April.

“I’m excited to join the district in my new role,” said Blodorn. “We have begun some great initiatives to better educate our children, and it’s gratifying to become part of that.”

The deadline to file for candidacy is Jan. 2. If more than two challengers emerge for an open seat, a primary would be held Feb. 19. Falls School Board members are paid $5,000 annually.

Nomination papers for the Village Board can be picked up at the clerk's office in Village Hall. School Board papers must be picked up in the district offices, which is also in Village Hall.
