Man Steals Jewelry From Assisted-Living Residents, Complaint Says

A 23-year-old Milwaukee man is accused of stealing jewelry from seniors living in an assisted living facility in Menomonee Falls.

Gregory J. Slade was charged on Sept. 11 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with felony theft and misdemeanor theft. If convicted, he faces up to three years and nine months in prison and $20,000 in fines.

Investigators learned that Slade had sold stolen jewelry pieces that had gone missing from residents at Tamarack Place, where he worked.

One resident lost a 1.35 carat diamond ring in July 2012 and another resident lost a 17-inch 14-carat gold chain in July 2012. Slade admitted to the thefts, the complaint states, saying he used the money for child support, student loans and credit card bills.
