Muskego woman confronts her ex-girlfriend about theft of card numbers after nearly $600 in charges are racked up.

Breakup Leads to a Rack Up in Credit Card Bill

A 32-year-old Milwaukee woman is facing charges after she stole credit card numbers from her ex-girlfriend, then used them to rack up nearly $600 in charges, according to a police report.

Tiffany M. Reed was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with three counts of identity theft for financial gain. If convicted, she faces up to 18 years in prison and $30,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On March 14, a woman living in the S7200 block of Lannon Drive contacted the Muskego Police Department after she noticed six fraudulent transactions had taken place with her credit cards for a total loss of $593. The woman said Reed is her ex-girlfriend and she suspected she wrote down the numbers for the cards and had made the charges.

The woman told police she confronted Reed about the transactions and she initially denied them, however, she later said “It’s your word against mine.” Officers then tried to contact Reed about the charges, but were unsuccessful.

Reed will make her initial appearance in court Nov. 6.
