Man Arrested After Driving Over Median On Howell

A 30-year-old man was arrested on three drug charges after police found his car facing the wrong direction on Howell Avenue Monday night.

According to an report:

A motorist phoned police about 8:20 p.m. saying a light-colored SUV was swerving in the 9400 block of S. Howell Ave. The SUV then went over the median and came to rest facing southbound in the northbound lanes.

The driver of the vehicle got out and walked to the gas station, 9502 S. Howell Ave., and began filling up a gas can as police arrived.

The man told police that since his vehicle ran out of gas, he thought driving over the median and onto the other side of the road would be the safest thing to do.

Police found several types of prescription pills and arrested him for possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics and illegal possession of a prescription.

He was also cited for operating after suspension and driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
