Woman Runs Into Restaurant Trying to Avoid Arrest

A 48-year-old South Milwaukee woman allegedly sped away from a Milwaukee County Sheriff's Deputy trying to pull her over Wednesday night and then ran into a bar/restaurant on Layton Avenue.

Michelle D. Deserio was arrested for her second drunken driving offense in a week and fourth overall. She was also arrested for fleeing from an officer and second-degree recklessly endangering safety.

According to a Sheriff's Office news release, a deputy saw her driving on S. Howell Avenue without her lights on about 7:30 p.m. Deserio ignored the deputy's emergency lights and siren, accelerated to 65 MPH through city streets and ran a stop sign.

Eventually Deserio stopped and ran into Amelia's, 724 E. Layton Ave., according to the news release. After she was arrested, she tested .13 on the intoximeter.  Police also found one open and ten unopened bottles of beer in her vehicle.

Deserio was previously convicted of drunken driving in April 1998, July 2004 and has a pending case from Dec. 20.

If convicted of the last charge, this offense will become her fourth OWI, a felony.

She faces up to 11 years in prison if convicted of all charges.
