A roundup of recent activity from the police blotter also includes a stolen fish fry sign and a caller concerned about people on the breakwall during potentially dangerous weather.

PD: Cat Euthanized After Shot by Pellet Gun; Shooter Unknown

Condolences go out to the owner of this four-legged furball.

The Port Washington resident reported at 8 p.m. Oct. 30 that his cat had been shot by someone using a pellet gun while the animal was roaming outside his South High Street resident.

The owner did not know who was responsible for the shooting, and the cat had to be euthanized because of its injuries.

More from the reports:

  • A thieving entrepreneur? Port Washington police responded to St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 12:57 p.m. Oct. 28 after a call about a stolen sign. The blue and white fish fry sign on the property along the east side of Wisconsin/Franklin at the top of the church hill was missing.
  • Danger, danger: Police received a call about four people on the breakwall at 5:44 p.m. Oct. 30 and the caller was concerned for their wellbeing due to the weather. Police responded to the area and found numerous people at the breakwall watching the waves, which at that "point of the day were no bigger than they normally were during any other windy day," the report said. But it's better safe than sorry — and, in fact, a water safety committee in Port Washington is curently tackling breakwall and beach safety issues.
