Fire at Waukesha County Auto Shop Claims Life of Dog

A structure fire at a Town of Genessee auto shop claimed the life of a dog, but this was the extent of the severity fire officials said.

WAUKESHA COUNTY -- A structure fire at a Town of Genessee auto shop claimed the life of a dog - but officials investigating the fire said this was the extent of severity on Sunday.

On November 27, 2016 at 12:18 pm squads from the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to Cory’s Auto Repair at S39 W30675 Wern Way in the Town of Genesee for a structure fire. Responding squads were advised that there was no one in the building and flames were visible by citizens who could see the building.

According to a WISN report, fire Chief Jim Moon with the Wales-Genesee Fire Department said "Everything inside is a total loss. Unfortunately the gentleman lost his dog. It was in the building. The dog is deceased,"

Upon arrival deputies reported the building was engulfed by fire and confirmed no one was in the building. Fire Departments from the Town of Genesee, Town of Vernon, Town of Waukesha, Town of Delafield, and the Village of Dousman responded to extinguish the fire.

No one was injured as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.
