Local Palatine Family Making Big Move

The Sisler family is moving this summer. And it's radical. And you can be part of it.

Have you heard about the Sisler family of Palatine? They are moving this summer. Big deal, right? Hold on. This is not your average move. They aren’t just packing up all their stuff and moving to another town or to another state. They are moving far away. Not only that, but they will be leaving most of their earthly possessions behind. They will also be undergoing a radical change to their lifestyle.

The family of six can only take 20 bags with them when they board their flight in August to their new home...... in Africa.

This adventurous and selfless family of six includes mom Anji, dad Steve, and their four kids - Nathan (freshman), Cade (7th grade), TJ (2nd grade) and Talia (kindergarten).

They have decided to move to the Rift Valley of Kenya to provide hope to abandoned and neglected children who live in extreme poverty. They’ve joined forces with Naomi’s Village, a home for orphans that opened in January 2011. A school is also being built. The motto for Naomi’s Village is, “Hope Begins When a Child Belongs.”

“We are overwhelmed by the reality that there are children that have no hope of going to school, no hope of regular meals, no hope of breaking out of a generational poverty cycle. When you begin to realize that these children are in this situation through no fault of their own it becomes even more sobering. The final realization that moved our family to take action was the fact that it takes so little to help these children reach their full potential,” Steve said.

Making the decision to move meant having to ask for financial support, which is not an easy thing to do for those who are used to being the givers. They have a long history of sponsoring many children through Compassion International.

“There is no way that we could pursue our call to GO if many people didn’t answer their call to STAY and support us financially, ” Steve said.

They are currently at 67% of their needed monthly support with little time left to reach 100%. Please consider joining their support team and becoming a partner. All gifts are tax-deductible. “Please know that your support is beyond appreciated and intertwines your life with the lives of all the children we will be loving in Kenya, “ Anji said.
