Man Killed By Police At Gas Station, Officials Say
Jackie Germaine Ragland was pronounced dead at the scene.

PELL CITY, AL — Jackie Germaine Ragland, 32, was killed by police as he was trying to rob a gas station store Thursday, officials said.
Ragland was armed during the robbery, police said.
Pell City Police Chief Paul Irwin told local news media that 32-year-old Jackie Germaine Ragland was killed by an officer who was responding to reports of a robbery. The cop found the armed suspect to be in the process of robbing the store at a Texaco, according to the reports.

Officials declared him to be dead at the scene.
Irwin says the suspect ran toward the officer with a gun, prompting the officer to fire his gun and hit the suspect in the upper torso.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the incident. Authorities have not released the races of those involved in the shooting.
