Tropical Storm To Stay Mostly East Of Alabama
Although its original path showed the state to be within the tropical storm's path, new forecasts show the system staying east.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Potential Tropical Cyclone 16 is expected to become Tropical Storm Nestor Friday night and the center is forecast to move into the Florida Panhandle after midnight. Although Alabama was originally part of the storm's patch, recent models of the path show very little of the state being hit by the storm.
That does not mean Alabama will stay dry this weekend or next week, however. Rain is expected for most of the state, and will be heavy in some places. The heaviest rain will fall over southeast Alabama, where cities like Dothan and Geneva could see 1-2 inches Friday night and Saturday morning.
According to meteorologist James Spann, mostly light rain is possible over the state, mainly over the eastern counties. Some rain is possible over the western side of the state as well, but it will be light and spotty there. Otherwise, the day will be cloudy with a high between 65 and 70 degrees.
