• U.S. Postal Service makes plans to close post office in Akron (wbrc.com) — Akron’s only post office is scheduled to close October 31, with all mail services shifting to Moundville, about 14 miles away, unless plans change. Town leaders and residents, including seniors who rely on local access for bills and medications, are petitioning the Postal Service to reconsider, while the landlord and USPS cite unresolved lease and cost issues.
