1. Man sentenced in deaths of the 'Voice of Auburn Tigers' and his wife is re-arrested (waka.com) — A man previously sentenced in the crash that killed beloved Auburn University announcer Rod Bramblett and his wife has been re-arrested in Auburn on a parole violation and is now in the Lee County Jail. Authorities say his earlier wreck at Shug Jordan Parkway and West Samford Avenue, plus later arrests by Auburn police, continue to have legal consequences.
2. SGA Senate discusses game day conduct, GrubHub wait times (theplainsman.com) — Auburn students may soon see changes in game day conduct rules, Christmas decorations on Samford Lawn and the student center, and even how long they wait for Chick-fil-A and GrubHub orders. SGA leaders discussed record enrollment, crowding in stadium tunnels, music choices at games, and a survey on dining experiences, with more details promised in upcoming meetings.
3. Alabama appeals court rejects Lee County man's challenge on capital murder conviction (wrbl.com) — A Lee County man's capital murder conviction in the killing of an Auburn teen has been upheld by the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals, meaning his life-without-parole sentence stands. Investigators tied the suspects to the 2020 abduction and shooting through cell phone data, surveillance footage, and eyewitness testimony, closing a case that deeply affected families in the Auburn area.
4. Auburn receives $579K in federal funding for forest products innovation project (thebamabuzz.com) — Auburn University has secured nearly $580,000 in federal funding to pioneer a new way of drying wood and other forest products that could cut energy use and emissions. Led from Auburn's College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment, the project will test pressurized carbon dioxide to remove moisture while capturing pollutants, potentially benefiting mills and forestry jobs across Alabama.
