β’ Brookside to consider abolishing police department (wbrc.com) β Brookside officials are weighing whether to completely abolish the town's police department after their insurance carrier said it will no longer cover a department-operated force. Town leaders are considering shifting law enforcement duties to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and outlining how evidence, records, equipment, and affected employees would be handled during any transition, with more updates promised soon.
