2. Foley adds Park Avenue to upcoming road resurfacing plan (gulfcoastmedia.com) — Foley drivers can expect fresh pavement soon as the city expands its upcoming resurfacing program to include Park Avenue between South Hickory and South Pine, bringing total work to 6.3 miles. With a low bid around $1.08 million, crews will start in October on Park Avenue, Lakeview Drive, West Peachtree Avenue, and a nearby alley, improving several key neighborhood routes.
3. Unexpected encounter in Alabama helps family learn more about fallen Vietnam soldier (wkrg.com) — In Foley, the family of fallen Vietnam soldier Louis Jones recently learned more about his final moments after an unexpected meeting with a fellow veteran who served beside him. The encounter, which happened during a Purple Heart event in Daphne, brought powerful memories, comfort, and a renewed sense of connection to Jones' sacrifice for his hometown loved ones.
4. Baldwin County suspends pistol permit processing at Robertsdale office (wkrg.com) — If you need a pistol permit in Foley, you'll have to use the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office's Foley, Fairhope, Bay Minette, or online options, because processing is suspended at the Robertsdale office until further notice. The sheriff's office hasn't explained the change yet but promises updates when Robertsdale services resume.
5. Federal judge puts new limits on immigration raids at Alabama construction sites (mynbc15.com) — A new federal court order could change how immigration officers operate at construction sites in Foley, after a Baldwin County worker was repeatedly detained while on the job. The ruling bars warrantless raids at private construction sites and requires officers to release workers who show proof of legal status, potentially easing fears for many local crews.
