New Foley Library Honors Women Who Started It All More Than 100 Years Ago (obawebsite.com) — Foley's new 40,000-square-foot community library is now open, offering expanded space, a sensory room, teen and children's areas, a STEAM/STEM lab, and a large multipurpose room for gatherings. The modern facility honors the Foley women's clubs that first launched the town's library in 1923, continuing a century-long tradition of residents working together to bring books and learning to the community.
2. Gulf Coast Media to moderate panel with AL muralist Banks Compton at new Foley library (gulfcoastmedia.com) — Foley residents are invited to a free "Stories on the Wall" evening with Alabama muralist Banks Compton at the new Foley Community Library on Tuesday, Sept. 29. You can hear about his recent mural projects, join a moderated Q&A, and explore an outdoor exhibit, but organizers ask that you register online in advance to reserve a spot.
3. Foley police search for man charged under Emily's Law after dogs attack woman (fox10tv.com) — Foley police are searching for a 33-year-old local man charged under Alabama's Emily's Law and with reckless endangerment after five pit bull-type dogs seriously injured a woman at their shared home on McGaster Trail. Two dogs were euthanized at the scene for safety reasons and three were seized, and officers note prior animal complaints at the address while asking residents to report any information on the suspect's whereabouts.
4. Big Rigs rolling back into Foley for annual Touch-A-Truck event (gulfcoastmedia.com) — Families in Foley can mark their calendars for the free Big Rigs at the Library Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Foley Recreation Department's Activity Center lawn. Kids can explore fire trucks, police vehicles, public works equipment, and farm animals, while parents enjoy food trucks and live music without needing to register in advance.
5. Tacos & Tequila Festival in Foley (fox10tv.com) — Foley will host the two-day Tacos & Tequila Festival Oct. 3-4, bringing food trucks, live music, kids' activities, contests, and plenty of taco and drink options. With free parking, low admission, and a big entertainment lineup, it's designed as an all-ages weekend draw for families and friends across Baldwin County.
