Today's riddle: What do you call a belt that is made of watches? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. CSC Christmas Cheer registration begins on Oct. 13 (mulletwrapper.net) — Gulf Shores families needing help with Christmas toys or a holiday meal can register for the Christian Service Center's Christmas Cheer for Children Program from Oct. 13 to Dec. 10. Eligible residents of Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan can sign up on select afternoons at CSC on Dolphin Ave., which also offers food and emergency financial aid year-round.
2. City of Gulf Shores passes new beach parking ordinance (wkrg.com) — Gulf Shores is rolling out a new beach parking ordinance that ties resident parking to a license-based verification system and tightens rules around decals and resident-only spaces. Part-time property owners gain limited access, but can't use the East Gulf Place lot, and hurricane re-entry decals will no longer double as parking permits starting in 2027. Violations now carry a $50 boot removal fee.
3. 53rd Annual National Shrimp Festival Returns to Gulf Shores in October (obawebsite.com) — Gulf Shores residents can get ready for the 53rd Annual National Shrimp Festival, running Oct. 8–11 at the intersection of Highway 59 and East Beach Boulevard with free admission. Expect live music on two stages, a 5K/10K, sand sculpture contest, children's activities, and food vendors serving only domestic, locally sourced seafood, with volunteer opportunities still available.
4. 2 gas stations in cities throughout Baldwin County had the cheapest premium gas in week ending Sept. 19 (baldwintimes.com) — Premium gas in Baldwin County recently averaged $4.81 per gallon, with Gulf Shores drivers seeing some of the lower reported prices around $4.39–$4.89 depending on station. The report breaks down the cheapest premium prices by city across the county, helping you compare what you're paying at the pump to nearby communities.
5. God's Gift To Car Wash Owners (gulfshoresnews.com) — If you've stepped out of your car in Gulf Shores lately to find the grill speckled with bugs, you're seeing the region's twice-yearly lovebug swarms. The article explains when and why these insects appear, debunks myths about their origins, and offers practical tips for protecting your car's paint during peak season.
