• Hike at Bethel Spring Nature Preserve (hvilleblast.com) — A guided hike is happening today at Bethel Spring Nature Preserve on Cherry Tree Road in Gurley, offering a two-mile, moderately difficult trek up to one of Madison County's largest waterfalls. Expect some steep elevation gain, but organizers say the scenery and waterfall time make it worthwhile, and they'll email registrants if weather or trail conditions force a cancellation.
• Salt Smokehouse, Tupelo Honey + more make Health Score Honor Roll [September 2026] (hvilleblast.com) — Madison County's latest restaurant health inspections are out, and two Gurley spots—Food City and Scruggs Bar-B-Que—earned excellent scores of 99 or higher. The roundup lists more than 150 eateries countywide that scored 95 or above, giving Gurley residents a quick way to check how their favorite places are doing on food safety.
