Hoover council to consider ALDOT assistance with paving assessment (hooversun.com) — Hoover residents could soon see a more data-driven approach to fixing neighborhood streets, as the City Council considers partnering with ALDOT on a $150,000 laser-based pavement assessment. UAB students honored by NASA Alabama Space Grant Consortium (uab.edu) — Two Hoover natives studying at UAB have earned prestigious NASA Alabama Space Grant honors, one as an undergraduate math major and another as a biomedical engineering Ph.D. fellow. 4. Tenacious defense leads Hoover past Muscle Shoals (al.com) — Hoover High's Buccaneers opened their 2026 football season with a gritty 14-8 win over Muscle Shoals, powered by a dominant defensive front and two touchdown passes from quarterback Kaleb Freeman. Despite missed chances on offense, Hoover's defense delivered multiple sacks, an interception, and key fourth-down stops to secure the home team's first victory as they look ahead to Opelika next week.
   

5. Alabama Sees Continued Job Growth and Rising Wages in July Economic Data - Alabama Department of Labor (alabama.gov) — Hoover is among Alabama's major cities with the lowest unemployment rate at 2.9%, signaling a relatively strong local job market. State officials report overall job growth, rising wages in construction and manufacturing, and continued demand for health care workers.
