• Tuscaloosa County, Cullman and Hoover Students Earn National Math Honors (abc3340.com) — Hoover families can celebrate as students from Green Valley and Trace Crossings elementary schools were named among just seven Alabama kids chosen as 2026 National Math Stars. The program offers up to a decade of mentoring, advanced coursework, STEM experiences and guidance, and even students who weren't selected will gain access to extra enrichment resources.
   

• Alabama unemployment rate ticks up to 3.4%; Cullman County rate is 3.3% (cullmantribune.com) — Hoover's job market remains strong, with July unemployment at just 2.9%, placing the city among Alabama's lowest-rate communities even as the statewide rate ticked up to 3.4%. State officials say overall employment and wages in sectors like construction, manufacturing, and health care are growing, with nursing and other medical roles still in especially high demand.
