Nighttime resurfacing of North Memorial Parkway to begin next week in Huntsville (yellowhammertimes.com) — Nighttime resurfacing on North Memorial Parkway in Huntsville starts Tuesday, Sept. 8, bringing single-lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. The $2 million project covers 3.5 miles between Country Club Avenue and Cedarama Drive, with completion expected in late fall, so plan your evening commutes accordingly.
   

2. Woman believed to be Huntsville's oldest resident turns 108 (whnt.com) — A beloved 108-year-old Huntsville resident, former educator and breast cancer survivor, is being celebrated as possibly the city's oldest living person. Surrounded by family, she shared how faith, service, and perseverance have shaped her life and continue inspiring generations across Huntsville.
   

3. Para-cycling world championships underway in Huntsville (whnt.com) — Huntsville is hosting the Para-cycling Road World Championships this weekend, bringing about 350 elite para-athletes from 49 countries to compete for gold. Races run through Monday and are expected to draw over 2,000 visitors and generate more than $4.1 million for the local economy.
   

4. Huntsville teacher arrested on child sex crime charge (whnt.com) — A Huntsville City Schools teacher at the Academy for Academics and Arts Middle School has been placed on leave and barred from campuses after being arrested on a charge of electronic solicitation of a child. District officials say they are cooperating with law enforcement and emphasize that student safety remains their top priority.
   

5. Police Ask for Help Finding Missing 67-Year-Old Alabaster Man Who May Be in Huntsville Area After Last Being Seen Near Southbrook Village Shopping Center (parktelegraph.com) — Police say a 67-year-old man reported missing in Alabaster may now be in the Huntsville area, and they're asking local residents to watch for him, especially around shopping centers and busy commercial spots. Because he may have a condition affecting his judgment, anyone who thinks they've seen him is urged to contact Alabaster police or call 911 immediately.
