About 200 Space Command personnel expected at Redstone by year end (madeinalabama.com) — About 200 U.S. Space Command personnel are expected to be working at Redstone Arsenal by year's end, marking steady progress in moving the headquarters to Huntsville. State leaders say the build-up is already translating into aerospace and defense jobs, reinforcing the city's role in national security and promising more long-term economic growth for local residents.
   

2. Huntsville opens new $32.4 million recreation center at site of former high school (al.com) — Huntsville is officially opening the new $32.4 million Sandra Moon Community Complex on Tuesday at the former Grissom High School site on Bailey Cove Road, with a 10 a.m. ribbon cutting and public tours. Residents will find upgraded gyms, a fitness center, adaptive recreation spaces, arts offices, a 611-seat theater, event center, playgrounds and multiuse sports fields all in one South Huntsville hub.
   

3. Huntsville police reviewing use of Taser in arrest of man armed with knives (rocketcitynow.com) — Huntsville police are reviewing officers' use of a Taser during last week's arrest of Deron Lashang Roberts on Stokes Street, after his family posted video and filed a formal complaint. HPD says Roberts displayed two knives and ignored commands before being tased and arrested on several charges, while Internal Affairs conducts a standard use-of-force review.
   

4. MTSU to woo future Blue Raiders during 10-stop True Blue Tour (murfreesboro.com) — Middle Tennessee State University is bringing its True Blue Tour to The Westin Huntsville on Oct. 14, offering free afternoon and evening sessions for local counselors, students, and families. Huntsville-area teens can meet deans, ask questions about majors, and even compete for on-the-spot scholarships, with walk-ins welcome but RSVPs encouraged through the university's website.
   

5. CAES doctoral student joins newest cohort of FFAR Fellows (uga.edu) — A HudsonAlpha researcher based in Huntsville, Ashmita Upadhyay, has been selected for the prestigious FFAR Fellows Program supporting future leaders in food and agriculture. Working in the Clevenger Lab, she uses advanced genomics to improve peanut and blueberry varieties, bringing high-level agricultural innovation and national recognition to Huntsville's growing biotech community.
