The paid event at Charger Union Theater is co-hosted by local autism organizations and aims to offer practical insights and inspiration for families, educators, and community members across North Alabama.
3. Vincent Rutherford Equality March to bring road closures to downtown Huntsville Oct. 4 (huntsvilleal.gov) — Drivers in downtown Huntsville should prepare for rolling road closures Sunday afternoon, Oct. 4, as the Vincent Rutherford Equality March moves through central streets. Huntsville Police will shut portions of Holmes, Jefferson, Williams, Church and Clinton between about 1:30 and 4 p.m., and residents are urged to plan alternate routes, allow extra time, and watch for pedestrians and officers.
4. Family of Twin Peaks shooting victim files wrongful death lawsuit (waff.com) — A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed in Madison County Circuit Court over the 2024 fatal shooting of Ray'Shun Markelle Bates inside the Twin Peaks restaurant in Huntsville. Bates' family alleges the restaurant failed to enforce its no-weapons policy, overserved the accused shooter, and did not provide adequate security or staff training, and they are seeking damages under Alabama's Wrongful Death Statute.
5. HAUNTED HSV: How to celebrate spooky season in the Rocket City (hvilleblast.com) — Huntsville locals can dive into spooky season with haunted hotspots like the Sally Carter house, Maple Hill Cemetery's Dead Children's Playground, and the Historic Huntsville Depot, plus several haunted houses within a short drive. The guide also highlights the Huntsville Ghost Walk and family-friendly hayrides and trails across North Alabama, offering options from intense scares to kid-friendly Halloween fun all October long.
