Mobile hopes to launch rebranded bus service after Labor Day (fox10tv.com) β Mobile is preparing to roll out its rebranded Second Line Transit bus service sometime after Labor Day, following council approval of a $231,000 contract to rewrap vehicles. Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis says simplified graphics will save money now, while the city works toward eventually replacing current buses with trolley-style vehicles to attract more riders.

Mobile juvenile murder case bound over to grand jury (fox10tv.com) β A 19-year-old Mobile man's murder case in the July shooting death of a 17-year-old has been sent to a grand jury after a judge found probable cause. Testimony from a Mobile police detective described surveillance video of shots fired at a car leaving a large gathering, while the defense argues the teen acted in self-defense.

3. Oak View Group holds job fair for multiple Mobile venues (fox10tv.com) β Oak View Group is hiring for jobs at several key Mobile venues, including the Arthur C. Outlaw Convention Center, the Saenger Theatre, and the new Regions Arena. A job fair just wrapped up downtown, but organizers say more hiring events are coming as they staff up for busy event nights.

Drug bust that sparked 2 chases took down 'big operation,' Mobile County sheriff says (wlox.com) β Mobile County deputies say they seized large quantities of suspected meth, cocaine, fentanyl and 10 guns after disrupting a drug handoff in Semmes, leading to two dangerous chases. A Mobile man is jailed without bond, another suspect is free on bond, and Sheriff Paul Burch warns more charges and arrests are likely.

Mobile County Sportsplex Soccer Complex adds four new fields and amenities (wkrg.com) β Mobile County has opened four new fields plus restrooms and a 300-space parking lot at the Sportsplex Soccer Complex on Halls Mills Road, expanding it to seven multipurpose fields. Officials say the $11.7 million investment will boost opportunities for local athletes and help Mobile attract more regional tournaments and sports tourism.
