• Prichard and Mobile County approve $1.2M one year contract for sheriff's policing services (mynbc15.com) — Mobile County has approved a $1.2 million, one-year contract for the sheriff's office to keep providing policing services in neighboring Prichard while that city rebuilds its troubled police department. Local readers should know this regional deal affects law-enforcement workloads, overtime costs, and public safety coordination across Mobile County through September 2027.

• ADPH closes shellfish harvesting waters in Baldwin, Mobile counties due to Hurricane Isaias rainfall (rocketcitynow.com) — Shellfish harvesting waters in Mobile and Baldwin counties, including areas near Dauphin Island and Cedar Point, are temporarily closed because Hurricane Isaias rainfall may have contaminated oyster beds. If you buy or harvest local shellfish around Mobile, you should avoid affected areas until the Alabama Department of Public Health's testing shows bacteria levels are safe again.

• Prattville swift-water rescue crews deploy to Mobile ahead of Hurricane Isaias (wsfa.com) — Swift-water rescue crews from Prattville, Hoover and Calera are deploying to Mobile today ahead of Hurricane Isaias, setting up operations to handle dangerous flooding once conditions allow. For Mobile residents, this means specialized rescue teams will already be in place locally, adding an extra layer of emergency support if flooding or swift-water incidents occur during and after the storm.
